The Sixth Sino-German Economic Law Forum held in Tongji Law School

The Sixth “Sino-German Economic Law Forum”, organized by Law School of Tongji University, Law School of Humboldt University and Law School of Konstanz University, is held in the Sino-French Center building in the morning of April 9.

 

Jiang Bo, the vice President of Tongji University, delivered a welcome speech at the opening ceremony and presented the visiting professor certificate of Tongji University to Professor Reinhard Singer of Humboldt University. Professor Singer of Humboldt University, Professor Glöckner of Konstanz University, Professor Ganea, deputy director of Sino-German International Economic Law Institute, and Wu Weimin, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tongji Law School, delivered their speeches at the opening ceremony respectively. They also reviewed the close cooperation over these years among three universities and the history of “Sino-German Economic Law Forum”. The opening ceremony of the forum was presided over by Professor Gao Xujun, director of Sino-German International Economic Law Institute.

 

The theme of the forum was “Social Networks and Big Data: Challenges to Public Welfare, Privacy and Private Life”. During the meeting, experts and professors from home and abroad explored and discussed possible legal problems in four modules: competition law, contract law, intellectual property law and labor law.

 

According to reports, the Sino-German International Economic Law Institute was established jointly by Law School of Tongji University, Law School of Humboldt University and Law School of Konstanz University in 2012, and the master’s degree program of “Sino-German Comparative Economic Law” was officially launched in 2013. After completing required studies, graduates will obtain double master’s degrees from China and Germany. Starting from 2013, the “Sino-German Economic Law Forum” was established, which was held once a year by three universities in turn. By the end of 2017, law school of Tongji University has sent more than 40 students and received more than 30 German students, among whom more than 30 postgraduates sent by law school of Tongji University have successfully completed the required courses, passed the examination and obtained double master’s degrees. At the same time, more than 20 German students have successfully completed the study of this program and obtained double master’s degrees. They are welcomed by Chinese and German business community and legal practitioners, and are playing a role of a bridge in promoting economic and cultural exchanges between China and Germany.
