Recalling the Famous Philosophy of Tongji Law School——Prof. ZHANG Qitai

Prof. ZHANG Qitai (1907-1962), a native of Haiyan, Zhejiang Province, graduated from the University of Paris, France, in 1933, obtained the degree of doctor of law; hired by the Southwest Associated University in the summer of 1937, was one of the six professors in the Department of Law.

He was a public servant of the Nanjing National Government from 1942 to 1948, Professor of Central University, and Deputy Secretary-General of the Law Society of the Republic of China. From 1948 to September 1949, he had been the Professor and Dean of Tongji Law School, and concurrently being the Director of the Judicial Division.

Later, from September 1949 to 1951, he was a professor successively at Guanghua University and Aurora University. From 1952, he worked successively at the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature of Fudan University, the Department of Law of Fudan University and the Institute of Politics and Law of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. He passed away on May 25, 1962.
