Vice President of University of Cologne Visited Tongji Law School

In the afternoon of September 23th, 2019, Professor Heinz-Peter Mansel, vice President of the University of Cologne, Professor Stefan Neubert, and Ms. Qiu Lan, head of the Beijing Office of the University of Cologne, visited Tongji Law School. Xu Gang, Deputy Dean of Tongji Law School, Professor Gao Xujun, director of International Affairs Office, Assistant Professor Chen Jielei and other relevant personnel attended the meeting.

 

 

Xu Gang, Deputy Dean of Tongji Law School, welcomed the arrival of Professor Mansel and his team. Then he introduced the basic situation of the faculty, disciplines, students and international cooperation of the law school, and expressed his willingness to cooperate in the aspects of exchange students and visiting scholars. Professor Gao Xujun, director of the International Affairs Office, introduced in detail about the double degree program and its practice with Humboldt University of Berlin and Konstanz University.

 

Mansel, vice principle of University of Cologne, said that he was deeply impressed by his first visit to Shanghai and Tongji University. He also introduced the teachers and students about international cooperation and international master's programs of the Law School of Cologne University. Vice Principle Mansel said that the school of law of Cologne University has a high interest in cooperating with Tongji Law School, and he has intended to consider carrying out cooperation step by step.

 

 

After discussion, the two sides reached a preliminary consensus on international cooperation, decided to send some students to participate in the master's degree program from next year, and gradually increase the number of exchange students. The two sides will hopefully sign a memorandum of understanding soon.

 

 

With a history of more than 600 years, the University of Cologne is one of the oldest universities in Europe and the world, and one of the elite universities in Germany. Its law and economics enjoy a high reputation in Germany. The law school of University of Cologne is one of the largest colleges in Germany, with more than 300 teachers and more than 5000 students. In recent years, law school of Tongji University has established collaborative relationship with many German universities. Among them, the double master degree program with Humboldt University and Konstanz University has been successfully implemented for seven years and short-term exchange programs to carry out academic exchanges with Heidelberg University and Bonn University have been implemented already.
