Professor Michele Geraci, former Vice Minister of the Ministero dello Sviluppo Economico, visited Tongji Law School in the afternoon on September 30th, 2020. Professor Jiang Huiling, Dean of Tongji Law School , along with Professor Chen Kangli, director of the Sino-Italian Campus, Professor Zhang Fengguang, director of Sino-Italian Center for Sustainability, relevant teachers from Tongji Law School and International Affairs Office attended the meeting.
Accompanied by Chen Kangli and Zhang Fengguang, Professor Geraci visited the Gallery of Tongji University History and YunChou building. Later in the afternoon, Geraci had an exchange discussion with law school teachers in Zhonghe building. At the exchange meeting, Dean Jiang Huiling briefly introduced the history, development, characteristics, international cooperation, training plan of Tongji Law School, and the achievements in the construction of rule of law in China. Dean Jiang Huiling expressed the willingness to further promote the cooperation between Tongji Law School and Italian universities. Professor Geraci agreed that strengthening the exchanges between China and Italy can improve the understanding of Chinese judicial system in Italy and help to reduce frictions. He hoped that there will be more cooperation in the future. Both sides also discussed the plan of setting up the Sino-Italian judicial research center.
Tongji Law School has a longstanding record of cooperation with Italian universities. As early as 2014, Tongji law school launched a double degree program with Polytechnic University of Turin. In 2017, teachers and students of Tongji law school went to Polytechnic University of Turin in Italy to attend an academic forum on the topic of “Innovative Economy, Intellectual Property Rights and Related Legal Issues in the Context of Big Data”. Professor Geraci's visit will play a positive role in further promoting the cooperation between Tongji law school and Italian universities.
